Barone Ricasoli 'Brolio' 2009 Chianti Classico ...

Barone Ricasoli Brolio 2009 Chianti Classico, $12.74-$23.99, 87 points, presents itself ruby, trending pomegranate in color with a broad clear rim.
Subtle hints of cooking spices are accented with a hint of red cherry and flowers on the nose.
Medium-body-light, this very dry red wine trends austere, but some juicy pomegranate does balance this out somewhat, while other palate flavors struggle to make their presence known, and mostly mushrooms and spices accomplish that.
Trailing with spice and a hint of heat (13.5% alcohol), this red wine is, to me, a good red table wine.

  1. Just a note after opening two days ago; this wine actually improved; the texture became rounder and more rich with less of an edge to it, while plum became more dominant, and black currant made an appearance.
