Bonterra Mendocino County 2010 Zinfandel

Bonterra Mendocino County 2010 Zinfandel, $12.99-$15.99, 89 points, appears Shiraz purple-red, opaque at the core, with a broad transparent rim.
For an inexpensive Zinfandel wine the aroma packs beautifully layered cedar, black currant, sweet cooking spices, and a hint of celery.
Near full-bodied with good acidity and mild tannin, Bonterra offers smoky flavors of licorice, not so wild blackberry and a bit too much plum, but overall a very good Zinfandel with a trailing palate into the fair finish of spice and heat (14.5% alcohol).
