Joel Gott 2011 Zinfandel

Joel Gott 2011 Zinfandel, $12.74-$16.99, 86+ points, appeared as a slightly cloudy ruby trending purple toward the transparent rim.
An unobtrusive toasty plum aroma sets the stage for a good Zinfandel wine.
Full bodied and smooth, mild acidity and tannin carried this unobtrusive wine's dominant flavors of plum, licorice, and blackberry surprisingly well for an under $15 Zin.
Finishes fair on the trailing palate with just a touch of black pepper and some heat (14.3% alcohol).
