Ramey Wine Cellars 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon

Ramey Wine Cellars 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, $36.71-$47.99, 93 points, appeared consistent with other California Cabernets in this series, and the Ramey too was black at the core trending a deep fruity purple/red toward the transparent rim.
Beautiful bouquet of warm earth, spiced plum, cinnamon, anise and sweet blackberry just maybe was the best I've experienced this year.
Near full body carried good acidity with moderate fine tannin building in intensity into the finish.
Juicy blackberry and boysenberry with anise and coffee notes were deliciously well balanced and integrated with the 14.5% alcohol; all of which was carried into the long finish with hints of spice and tobacco.

  1. Not surprised at all by this Dennis. The Ramey wines are extracted to be sure, but they retain a sense of class and elegance that makes them special. They remind me of the Snowden wines and since Dave Ramey taught Diana Snowden everything he knows, that makes sense. :) FYI, down here, the Ramey Claret is available too. If you see that, check it out. It's almost all Cabernet even though it's not labeled as such but the beauty of it is that it won't hurt the wallet as much. The Claret is only $28-$31. Cheers!

    1. Happy happy to you and yours. Oh, my father was an Alexander, and my son is an Alec, my nephew is an Alex, so Alexandra should stick in my "old" mind!
