Cecchi 2010 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano (DOCG)

Cecchi 2010 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano (DOCG), $19.54-$24.99, 90 points, appeared a bright pomegranate red with the barest hint of orange up to the draping transparent glass wall.
Though the aroma is very slight, the smells of truffle and black cherry were pleasant.
Medium body, medium acidity and tannin with a lovely flavor profile that mirrored the aroma recommends this as a near perfect red table wine; there is nothing overwhelming here, nothing distracting, nothing but deliciousness; some will be disappointed, and others will finally fall in love with Italian red wine.
Finished on the trailing palate with a gentle zing of white pepper, an intensifying tannin, with a hint of eucalyptus, and the 13.5% alcohol.

  1. Dennis,

I've met and shared wine with Andrea Cecchi a few times now - most recently at the Gambero Rosso tasting where is Coevo won "Tre Bicchieri". They make a wide selection of nice wines under the Cecchi name, but I think too that the Val di Rose and Villa Cerna estates are also producing great wine. Keep your eye out for them as they are both made by Andrea Cecchi.
