Meiomi California 2012 and 2013 Pinot Noir

Meiomi California 2012 Pinot Noir, (375 ml) $10.39-$12.99, 88 points, poured black-grape purple/red with a transparent ring at the leggy glass wall.
Upon opening the smells were near 'dumb', and even with much swishing and swirling I could barely coax a whisper of black fruit and grapey notes.
The sleek medium body with good acidity and mild tannin carried good flavors of mulberry, boysenberry, coffee, and hints of almond extract were rich, and carried on a silky texture.
Finished fair on the trailing palate with a well integrated 13.8% alcohol and black licorice.

Meiomi California 2013 Pinot Noir, $15.99-$21.99, 87 points, poured more a Shiraz purple-red trending ruby with a broad clear rim and some draping.
Meiomi 2013 was aromatic with sweet cooking spices, a floral component, boysenberry and blackberry.
This medium-bodied Pinot Noir began by showing good acidity, mild tannin, ripe black and red fruits, marzipan, and licorice.
Finished fair on the trailing palate with subtle, but escalating spice and a well integrated 13.8% alcohol.
