Las Rocas Vinas Viejas 2008 Garnacha

Las Rocas Vinas Viejas 2008 Garnacha, $12.34-16.99, 90+ points, poured core black meeting the clear rim with crushed blackberry purple/red.
Absolutely lovely aromas of roses, sandalwood, and black fruit impressed.
Near full-bodied, velvety smooth early mouth-feel, good acidity, and still seductive tannin setup a wonderful flavor profile of flowers, black fruit, strawberry, cola, dried herbs, and hints of licorice.
Finished well on the well integrated 13.5% alcohol, spice notes, and pomegranate.
This is a rather dry red wine!.
The quality, price, ratio is excellent! This is a great introduction to Spanish Garnacha, and if you looking for something different, something other than Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, or Zinfandel, then I'd grab this one. Now, you might only find a more recent vintage, but I'd try those too.

  1. This Garnacha sounds wonderful. I am envious of the selection of wines you find in your local wine shops.

    1. VG: Though this one was only $2.35 more than the recently reviewed de San Alejandro, it was way better to me; could be apples and oranges (different vintages and sources for grapes), but both were Garnacha.
