The nose was quite quiet (almost dumb) at this point, however, with much swishing and swirling a whiff of the 15% alcohol and subtle notes of coffee, earth, black cherry, and chocolate percolated up and were very good.
Flavors were reflective of the nose with the addition of anise, plum, and blackberry.
The medium-plus body carried good acidity with accelerating and firm grainy tannin.
Finished a tad astringent, but tart pomegranate, mild spice, and warmth from the alcohol were all good.
As an entry level Merlot based red Bordeaux you couldn't hardly do better; price, quality, drink-now and for years to come character, and its great pairing nature makes this the perfect choice.
I liked the Bad Boy 2005, but this 2009 vintage was even better.
