Château Giscours Margaux 2011 Bordeaux Red Wine, $51.19-$68.99, 94 points, poured inky black at the core trending dark ruby and finally a crushed black currant purple/red with a clear wine ring.
Profuse aromas of blackberry, anise, and roses were accented with coffee-mocha, savory, sweet tobacco, sea-breezes, and black currant, all of which made this Bordeaux one of this year's best in the category.
Near full-bodied with very good acidity, sweetly layered tannins (drinking fine now), and flavors as deep and reminiscent as the aromas.
Finished long on a well integrated 13.5% alcohol, plum, a touch of tart pomegranate, and classic spiciness.
Compared to the 2010 vintage ($96.04-$112.99 and 95 points) the 2011 was a steal, and at $51.19, I wished I had bought more! Keep in mind that everyone didn't like this wine as much as I did, but when you have a hard time to stop drinking a wine, it's a very good wine to you (me)!
Varietals were 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.
