Boyle MacDonald Napa Valley 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon

Boyle MacDonald Napa Valley 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, $26.99-$49.99, 92 points, was a deep burgundy purple/red with a disrupted clear wine ring and leggy glass wall.
Aromatic black currant, blackberry, cedar, and a soft violet note were excellent.
This near full-bodied Cabernet was less robust than a typical Cali Cabernet, but with fair-plus acidity and gossamer tannins carried straight forward flavors of cola, anise, tobacco, and those of the aromas were quite good.
Finished long on earthy black fruit, a hint of red raspberry, warm spices, and a more Bordeaux-like 13.6% alcohol.
Did not pair well with my spicy beef, but I would try pairing with Sangiovese friendly cuisine.
Be sure to decant this red wine before serving.

  1. I think most 2010s are tasting great right now.

  2. Well, it was quite a cool vintage for Napa, so some green bean aromas are still at the forefront in some producers wines.
