Head Honcho Barrel 27 Santa Barbara County 2012 Syrah

Head Honcho Barrel 27 Santa Barbara County 2012 Syrah, $12.74-$34.99, 92 points, was black almost to the clear wine ring and leggy glass bowl where a deep Shiraz purple/red made its brief appearance.
Aromatic potpourri of black fruit and flowers with barely a hint of bell pepper were quite good.
Full-bodied with good acidity and firm round tannins effectively supported flavors that reflected the aromas plus black pepper, licorice, and plum.
Finished long on a big 15.2% alcohol inspirited spiciness, a coffee note, and blackberry liqueur.
Paired perfectly with our Greek-styled meat-lovers pizza.

  1. I am trying to find what may be left of Head Honcho 2012 Syrah somewhere out there, possibly to be shipped to Europe if needed. Any advice on how to track this down? All the best, Anders
