Acacia California 2015 Pinot Noir, $9.99-$14.99*, 90 points, poured cranberry red with a broad transparent and bleeding wine ring at the moderately draped glass bowl.
Aromatically a tad 'dumb', but traces of dusty black cherry and a floral vibe were okay.
Medium-bodied with good acidity and Beaujolais-like mild tannin carried a flavor profile more similar to the French Gamay grape than a typical Cali Pinot Noir, and therein I found a certain magic; the red fruit medley with nuanced tobacco and red licorice notes were delicious.
Finished nicely on the trailing thinning palate, an easy spiciness, and due its quaffable quality, a potent 13.5% alcohol.
Paired wonderfully with my barbecued baby-back ribs, mac and cheese, crisp salted string beans with a warm olive oil drizzle; I don't usually like chocolate desserts with PN, but a dark chocolate/hazelnut truffle was excellent.
